Kenyan newspapers on August 8 reported that senior officials Musalia Mudavadi and Wycliffe Oparanya launched a campaign aligned with President William Ruto to counter growing support for Edwin Sifuna's Linda Mwananchi movement in Western Kenya. According to the reports, the political push comes as Sifuna's wave gains momentum in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling early realignments in the country's political landscape.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has joined the Linda Mwananchi coalition, strengthening the opposition's efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. Maraga expressed his readiness to collaborate with leaders including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi to ensure the removal of President William Ruto from power in the upcoming elections. His remarks were made during political meetings in Kisii, Keumbu, and Keroka.

Kenyan leaders from the Coast region, including Sports and Youth Minister Salim Mvurya, Mining Minister Hassan Joho, and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, have urged residents to support President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election. They highlighted Ruto's commitment to developing the Coast region despite receiving fewer votes from the area in the 2022 election. During a political meeting in Malindi, they mentioned that Ruto is expected to issue over 200,000 title deeds to address land ownership issues.

Kenyan President William Ruto has said his government is preparing a policy to end the export of raw minerals from the country, requiring companies to invest locally, add value to minerals and create jobs. Speaking in Samburu County, Ruto said he had personally intervened to halt mineral shipments from Magadi. He said the policy would cover all national resources, including oil, gold and rare minerals, declaring that Kenya would no longer sell unprocessed minerals abroad.

Moses Wetang’ula, the Speaker of the National Assembly, urged residents of the Western region to register as voters to support President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking in Kimang’eti, Malava Sub-County during a fundraising event for a vocational training institute, Wetang’ula emphasized that the Western region should grant Ruto a second term due to the development projects initiated by his government in the area.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has signalled a possible political alliance between the Mount Kenya region and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, saying the region is ready to back him if chosen as the joint opposition candidate in the 2027 election. According to Taifa Leo, Gachagua said he is willing to be Sifuna's running mate or have the senator as his deputy, if it helps remove President William Ruto from power.
