Sandile Ndlovu, a photographer for the Sunday Times, has been awarded the Sikuvile Journalist of the Year, making him only the second photographer to achieve this honor in the award's 16-year history. In addition to this prestigious accolade, Ndlovu also secured victory in the feature photographs category.

Veteran Sowetan photographer Veli Nhlapo, known for capturing South African images for nearly 50 years, has received a send-off from colleagues. This farewell marks a temporary departure for the esteemed photographer, who has made significant contributions to the field throughout his career.

The Cape Town Photography Festival is taking place from 2 to 26 September 2026 under the theme "Truth", according to IOL. Among the event's highlights is an outdoor exhibition by Melany Ismail titled "Cape Rhythm: Goema, Klopse & Memory", installed in Company's Garden in Cape Town. The exhibition explores the city's goema music tradition, the Klopse minstrel culture and themes of memory, forming part of the festival's broader programme of photographic works.
