The International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kampala has determined that three individuals accused of the murder of Joan Kagezi, an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, have a case to answer. This ruling follows the court's evaluation of evidence presented by witnesses regarding the murder that occurred on March 30, 2015.

The court has extended the detention of suspects involved in the arson case at Utumishi Academy for an additional two days, following an application by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). This extension is pending plea-taking scheduled for June 26.

Chris Obore, the Director of Communications for Parliament, along with six other senior officials, has been remanded in custody by the Anti-Corruption Court in Wandegeya until July 7, 2026. They face charges of embezzlement, money laundering, and other corruption-related offenses, with prosecutors alleging the illegal misappropriation of Shs30 billion.

Seven parliamentary officials, including a prominent figure known for his controversial behavior, have been charged with embezzlement involving Ugandan Shillings 31.8 billion. The charges were brought by the Inspector General of Government (IGG), and the accused have been remanded to Luzira Prison until July 7, 2026.

Erias Lukwago, an opposition politician and lawyer, will remain in custody after the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court denied his bail application. Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera stated that the prosecution provided compelling reasons for continued detention, highlighting the seriousness of the charges against him and the necessity for protection.
