The Nigerian federal government has launched a national initiative to incorporate electric cooking into the country's Clean Cooking Policy. This initiative aims to attract investment, enhance access to clean energy, and decrease reliance on firewood and other polluting cooking fuels.

Experts have called on the Federal Government to enhance the implementation of clean cooking policies and increase investment in electric cooking. They warn that millions of households continue to depend on polluting fuels, which pose risks to public health, contribute to climate change, and worsen poverty.

Stakeholders in Nigeria's climate, energy, and development sectors are working to launch an 80 million clean cookstoves program. This initiative aims to reduce household air pollution, curb deforestation, expand access to clean energy, and create economic opportunities for millions of Nigerians. The program is being led by Greenplinth Africa Limited under the theme, "Clean Cooking Access."

The prices of liquefied petroleum gas, or cooking gas, have decreased in various regions of Nigeria following a period of increase attributed to supply constraints. Retail outlets in Abuja reported a drop in prices, with costs falling between N1450 and N1500 per kilogram, down from N1700 at AA Shafa and Ranoil in Dutse.

The Managing Director of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr Chijioke Okwukenye, announced that AEDC is collaborating with Nasarawa Electricity Distribution Limited (NAEDL) to distribute approximately 35,000 metres in Nasarawa.

According to Punch, an adviser to Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu has emphasized that Nigeria's clean cooking initiative has the potential to enhance economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and improve public health. The initiative aims to promote cleaner cooking methods across the country.
