According to Capital FM, Mungatana said reports of harassment, intimidation and hostility against Burundians run contrary to Kenya's Pan-African values and its commitment to regional integration. He urged authorities to take action against the organisers of the alleged anti-Burundi campaign.

Kenya has established a Joint Task Team with Burundi, the UN refugee agency UNHCR, and the International Organization for Migration to address humanitarian concerns affecting Burundian nationals in the country.
