Seven parliamentary officials, including a prominent figure known for his controversial behavior, have been charged with embezzlement involving Ugandan Shillings 31.8 billion. The charges were brought by the Inspector General of Government (IGG), and the accused have been remanded to Luzira Prison until July 7, 2026.

Four senior officials from Kalungu District Local Government have been remanded to Luzira Prison by the Anti-Corruption Court due to allegations of causing a financial loss exceeding Shs531 million to the Government of Uganda. This loss is reportedly linked to the mismanagement of a school renovation project. The officials were arrested by the Inspectorate of Government (IG) and have recently appeared in court.

Chris Obore, the Director of Communications for Parliament, along with six other senior officials, has been remanded in custody by the Anti-Corruption Court in Wandegeya until July 7, 2026. They face charges of embezzlement, money laundering, and other corruption-related offenses, with prosecutors alleging the illegal misappropriation of Shs30 billion.

Nine public servants in Geita have been taken to court over allegations of embezzling over TZS 90 million in government funds, according to the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (TAKUKURU). Three officials from the Geita Municipal Council are accused of misappropriating TZS 48.1 million collected through the Local Government Revenue Collection Information System (LGRCIS) using revenue collection machines, which were not deposited into the government account.

Police in Iganga District, in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Defence Intelligence Security, have arrested six individuals accused of impersonating President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his daughter, Natasha Karugire. The suspects allegedly operated a criminal syndicate that defrauded members of the public through social media and mobile money schemes.

The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in Singida Region has identified resource leakages and delays in the implementation of development projects funded by the Central Government. In response, the PCCB is undertaking various initiatives, including frequent surveys, to address these project management gaps and improve the efficiency of project execution in local councils.
