The Director-General of Nigeria's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, has announced that the agency seized 7,210 fake, substandard and non-compliant regulated products during nationwide surveillance operations carried out between May and July 2026. Adeyeye disclosed the figures at a media briefing in Lagos, according to Tribune Online, which reported the briefing addressed public concern over the circulation of unsafe products.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed an attempt to smuggle unregistered pharmaceutical products into Nigeria using a counterfeit registration number from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, announced the seizure of N53 billion worth of drugs and expired pharmaceuticals, which were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and NAFDAC.

According to PM News, police have arrested 202 suspects during a raid on brothels and drug dens. The operation also resulted in the impounding of five motor vehicles, ten tricycles, and ten motorcycles for violating traffic regulations, state-imposed restrictions on tricycle operations, and a ban on motorcycles in certain areas.

The NDLEA Anambra State Command has reported securing 128 convictions and making 559 arrests over the past 11 months as part of its efforts to combat illicit drug activities in the region.

The Benue State Government has conducted inspections of all 23 Divisional Agricultural Offices (DAOs) to promote transparency and accountability in the distribution of government-supplied fertiliser to farmers for the 2026 farming season. This initiative was led by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, as part of the government's monitoring efforts.

The Senate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has raised concerns over the widespread presence of unsafe food and other products across Nigeria. According to NANS Senate President Moses, the sale of suspected counterfeit drugs and adulterated food in markets, by roadside vendors, and through online platforms is particularly worrisome. The student body flagged the issue as a growing threat to public health and consumer safety in the country.
