STEM Africa is launching its flagship STEM Africa Fest with the goal of reaching at least 25,000 additional children, parents, and educators across Africa to promote practical education in science and technology. Shifra Ainomugisha, a young leader and social entrepreneur from Uganda, has been awarded the title of 2026 Commonwealth Young Person of the Year. Kenya has graduated 2,700 young individuals from the Jitume digital media training initiative, which is supported by the government. This program aims to enhance participation in the country's expanding creative and digital economy. The graduates completed a five-day hybrid learning program as part of the Jitume Digital Media Tools Sensitization workshop, designed to introduce young people to emerging technologies and industry practices.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has begun the registration process for Grade 10 learners on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal, as announced in a notice on June 24. This follows the closure of registration for Senior School assessment centres, and all registered assessment centres are now enabled to register Grade 10 learners for School-Based Assessment.

Grade 10 learners entering senior school in Kenya can choose the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics pathway, one of three senior-school routes under the Competency-Based Education system. According to The Kenya Times, the Ministry of Education’s Grade 10 Selection and Placement System enables learners to select pathways, subject combinations and schools, while the article lists senior schools offering STEM and the available subject combinations for placement planning.
