Kenya Power has invested Ksh 765 million in two new electricity substations aimed at improving the quality and reliability of power supply in Kwale and Kilifi counties. According to the utility firm, the Bomani 132/33kV substation in Kilifi County, which is nearing completion, is being constructed at a cost of Ksh 455 million and will serve customers in the coastal region once operational.

The government has allocated Sh1.8 billion for the 2026/27 Financial Year to enhance electricity connectivity in Kericho County, benefiting approximately 17,500 households through the rural electrification programme. This announcement was made during the launch of the Kenya Power Last Mile Connectivity Programme (LMCP) projects in Soin/Sigowet Constituency.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company announced planned electricity interruptions across several counties on Tuesday, September 8, citing system maintenance and upgrades. According to Tuko, the outages will affect nine counties, including Mombasa, Nairobi, Nyeri, Homa Bay, and Tharaka Nithi. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are expected to experience power cuts during the scheduled maintenance period.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the completion of repairs on the Alaoji–Owerri 132kV Transmission Lines 1 and 2, restoring power to parts of Imo, Bayelsa, and Rivers states. The lines were re-energised at 7:05 p.m. and 7:06 p.m. on Wednesday, according to TCN.
