Aderogba Ajayi, known as Rogba and a member of the Accord Party, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Esa-Oke, Osun State, leading to grief and anger in the community. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, heightening tensions in the area ahead of the gubernatorial elections.

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, stated that while State Governors can appoint police commissioners, they do not have the authority to dismiss them. He emphasized that the State Police would not be used as a political instrument by Governors, aiming to ensure its independence.

Nyesom Wike has reassured candidates selected by the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming 2027 elections, encouraging them not to be anxious about their prospects. This statement was made during a meeting on Wednesday, aimed at boosting the candidates' confidence ahead of the polls.
