A court has granted protection orders to the family of a Nakuru woman who was allegedly killed by a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer. The orders were issued in a case filed by Serah Nyokabi Mugweru, a relative of the deceased, against the accused, with involvement from former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

The family of Agnes Wanjiru is urging the Kenyan and UK governments to prioritize justice and compensation related to her murder before the renewal of the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) Defence Agreement. They have raised concerns about alleged misconduct and neglect by British soldiers in connection with the case, according to Tuko.

The court has extended the detention of suspects involved in the arson case at Utumishi Academy for an additional two days, following an application by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). This extension is pending plea-taking scheduled for June 26.
