A national campaign to raise awareness about drowning and strengthen community response to drowning emergencies has been launched in Uganda by SwimSave, according to HEJNU. Dubbed the 3,000 Campaign, the initiative runs for three months, from August 7 to November 7, 2026. The Buvuma Islands have been identified as the starting point, where community responders will receive training to handle drowning emergencies in high-risk lakeside communities across the country.
