Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, referred to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, as the National Leader of the winning faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This statement was made on Friday, as Akpabio urged Nigerians to disregard Wike's claim of being an exceptional performer during his tenure as governor.

Prominent federal lawmakers such as Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan are set to receive honours at the 2026 national legislative awards, according to Tribune Online.
