The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the official timetable for the 2026 Local Council elections, which will include the election of Village Women Committees and Local Council I (LCI) leaders across all 71,214 villages in Uganda. EC Chairperson Simon Byabakama made the announcement at the commission’s headquarters, marking the start of the electoral process.

In Rubirizi district, residents of Kikuba Village are celebrating a new water project funded by Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, the re-elected Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru.
