National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has defended President William Ruto's adherence to a re-election agreement with Western leaders from the 2022 general election. Wetang’ula responded to opposition claims that Ruto did not fulfill the pact, which promised the Western region 30 percent of government appointments and development projects. He asserted that the opposition is spreading falsehoods for political gain and claimed that the Western region has benefited from the Kenya Kwanza government, despite not receiving full support.

Moses Wetang’ula, the Speaker of the National Assembly, urged residents of the Western region to register as voters to support President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking in Kimang’eti, Malava Sub-County during a fundraising event for a vocational training institute, Wetang’ula emphasized that the Western region should grant Ruto a second term due to the development projects initiated by his government in the area.

Allies of President Ruto have accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of undermining the government's development agenda. They assert that the government should be permitted to implement its plans without interference from external political influences, according to KBC.

During a visit to Kibra, President Ruto promised residents that the government would cover all costs for those who lost their lives in a recent fire outbreak. He urged the community to give him three months to implement support measures. The visit aimed to console the affected citizens, and Ruto was seen accompanied by other officials during the address.

President Ruto has called on Kenyans to reject tribal politics, emphasizing that no leader should be permitted to divide the nation along ethnic lines. His remarks aim to promote unity among the diverse communities in Kenya.
