Jigawa State has launched a demonstration under the Nigeria Farmer Soil Health Scheme aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture. Speaking on the initiative, Prof. Olumuyiwa James, National Consultant for the scheme and a soil science expert at Bayero University, Kano, said effective soil management is essential for smart and sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria. According to him, achieving this requires the involvement of policymakers, researchers, experts, farmers, and other critical stakeholders across the agricultural sector.

Many farmers in Nigeria have urged the Federal Government to decentralize agricultural financial interventions to enhance access for those in rural areas. A coalition of various agricultural stakeholders, including smallholder farmers and cooperative societies, has expressed the need for improved support programs to better serve the farming community across the country.

Former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has expanded an agricultural empowerment programme in Nigeria's Nasarawa North Senatorial District, donating farm equipment to local farmers. Adamu, the Social Democratic Party's governorship candidate for Nasarawa State, pledged to promote mechanised farming if elected in 2027, according to Leadership newspaper. The initiative continued on Tuesday as part of his ongoing campaign activities focused on boosting food security and supporting rural farming communities in the state.

Akwa Ibom State governor Umo Eno has announced plans to create large-scale model farms in the state's three senatorial districts. This initiative aims to enhance food production, improve food security, and promote agritourism. Additionally, the management of the Ibom Model Farm in Uyo Senatorial District has been reassigned as part of this effort.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, alongside the Niger State Government, has conducted training for 100 youths, women, and agripreneurs in hydroponic farming. This initiative was organized by Amaiza Enterprise Company Limited, Nigeria Polytechnic Foundation (NIPOF), Luqknight Limited, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), in collaboration with the Niger State Agency.

The Benue State Government has conducted inspections of all 23 Divisional Agricultural Offices (DAOs) to promote transparency and accountability in the distribution of government-supplied fertiliser to farmers for the 2026 farming season. This initiative was led by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, as part of the government's monitoring efforts.
