Amazon Web Services (AWS) has chosen three Nigerian social enterprises to participate in its fourth cohort of the Social Entrepreneur Accelerator Programme, out of nine selected from Africa. This selection highlights Africa's significant representation in the global initiative, with other participating countries including Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, and Tanzania. The total cohort consists of 42 organizations.

Google has selected 15 AI-focused startups from various African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Angola for its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program. This initiative emphasizes a transition towards scalable and revenue-generating innovations within the continent's tech ecosystem. The startups, which span sectors such as fintech, mobility, healthtech, agritech, and SaaS, completed a three-month hybrid program.

On June 18, 15 AI-focused startups from various African countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Angola, graduated from the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa programme, which is a three-month hybrid initiative.

Google Cloud held its first Cloud Summit in Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa, attracting 3,000 attendees including business leaders, developers, and public sector representatives. The event focused on the continent's digital transformation and introduced new investments in Agentic AI and infrastructure.

Google has announced that its Johannesburg Cloud Region is expected to contribute $90.6 billion to South Africa's economy by 2030, as part of its expansion in cloud and artificial intelligence services on the continent. This projection was revealed during Google Cloud's first Africa Cloud Summit in Johannesburg, where it was also noted that approximately 314,900 jobs would be supported by this initiative.

Amazon's Project Kuiper has achieved a significant milestone by deploying enough satellites to initiate commercial broadband service, transitioning from the construction phase to operating a live communications network. The project now has 396 low Earth orbit satellites in orbit, exceeding the minimum required for service activation, and is preparing for expansion into Africa.
