Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has dissolved the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KEBSIEC), reaffirming his commitment to electoral independence, according to Channels Television. Two members of the commission whose tenures have not yet expired will remain in office until the body is reconstituted. The development concerns the restructuring of the state electoral body responsible for conducting local government elections.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has mobilised support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence the party will win forthcoming elections in the state. According to Leadership newspaper, Idris spoke in Birnin Kebbi while receiving members of hunters' associations from the state's 21 local government areas, who visited to pledge their backing for the governor and the ruling party.

Kebbi Governor has inaugurated a new governing council for the state university following a significant leadership shake-up that included the removal of the vice chancellor, two deputy vice chancellors, and other management team members, as well as the dissolution of the previous governing council. This restructuring aims to enhance the institution's governance and operations.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its Kebbi State chairman, while Governor Idris has sanctioned a commissioner in relation to the Zuru by-election. The party did not specify the duration of the suspensions.

The Emir of Yauri in Kebbi State, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi, has endorsed Governor Nasir Idris for a second term in office. According to Punch, the traditional ruler cited the governor's record of significant development, particularly in the education and health sectors, as the basis for his support. The endorsement comes ahead of the next governorship election in the northwestern Nigerian state, adding the backing of a prominent traditional institution to the governor's political standing.

Muazu Elazeh, the Group Managing Director of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, has praised Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State for his initiatives regarding the timely payment of civil servants' salaries, as well as the settlement of pensions and gratuities. Additionally, Elazeh commended the governor's focus on infrastructure development, as noted in a statement from the governor's adviser on Media and Publicity.
