SASCOC has announced the selection of the athletics team that will represent South Africa at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Team Uganda has received a boost in its preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games through a donation of Tooke nutritional products from the Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre (BIRDC). The donation includes various Ugandan-made items such as Power Cookies, Sportsman Biscuits, milkshake, Tooke infusions, and Tooke porridge flour, which will support the national teams ahead of the event.

Team South Africa has been announced for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, featuring prominent athletes such as backstroke world champion Pieter Coetzé and Olympic silver medallist Jo-Ane du Plessis. The games are scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 3.

Nigeria has selected a 29-athlete camp for the Commonwealth Games, featuring 14 male and 15 female competitors. The athletes were primarily chosen based on their performances in the recent national trials held in Lagos, with notable participants including Amusan, Ashe, and Brume, according to Premium Times.

Nigeria has established a complete training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, where 74 athletes are preparing for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The athletes are focusing on 10 different sports as they intensify their preparations for the upcoming event.

Shifra Ainomugisha, a young leader and social entrepreneur from Uganda, has been awarded the title of 2026 Commonwealth Young Person of the Year. This prestigious recognition, part of the Commonwealth Youth Awards, honors outstanding young individuals across the 56 member countries who are making significant contributions to sustainable development.
