Ibrahim Gotan, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, has urged political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to maintain peaceful conduct in the lead-up to the governorship election. During an interactive session at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo, he emphasized the importance of collective efforts among political actors to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

In preparation for the Osun 2026 elections, Commissioner of Police Gotan has advised political parties to notify the police prior to holding any political rallies. This measure aims to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process, highlighting the responsibilities expected of all political actors and their supporters.

Vanguard reports that, ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat and All Progressives Congress leaders urged residents to reject violence and maintain peaceful conduct before, during and after voting. The Lagos APC also said it would fully mobilise support for Bola Tinubu, Hamzat and its candidates, according to the report.
