Nigeria's Federal Government is planning to implement a new competency-based digital curriculum for teacher training, with the goal of producing educators who are digitally skilled and competitive on a global scale.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, alongside the Niger State Government, has conducted training for 100 youths, women, and agripreneurs in hydroponic farming. This initiative was organized by Amaiza Enterprise Company Limited, Nigeria Polytechnic Foundation (NIPOF), Luqknight Limited, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), in collaboration with the Niger State Agency.

The Zamfara State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project has begun a five-day digital skills training programme for 140 teachers drawn from 70 schools across the state. According to Daily Trust, the training aims to strengthen teachers' capacity to use digital technology in classroom instruction and to improve learning outcomes. State Ministry of Education officials were involved in the exercise, which forms part of the AGILE project's broader education empowerment efforts.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) have announced plans to enhance the institute's role in digital skills development, research, innovation, and policy to support Nigeria's digital economy. This initiative aims to reposition DBI as a leading center in these areas, according to Vanguard.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's young population as a significant asset in expanding digital opportunities for businesses and workers. He assured Mastercard of the country's readiness in terms of a tech-savvy workforce and expressed support for enhancing digital skills among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

At the UNDP's pan-African edtech accelerator, Data Entry Academy from Nigeria won the top prize among twenty finalists. The competition saw ten startups recognized for their innovations, with startups from Egypt and Senegal securing the second and third places, respectively.
