Ogun State has announced a collaboration with the Police to enhance security and border surveillance. This initiative was confirmed during a strategic security meeting attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Fayoade Adegoke and Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, according to Premium Times.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) emphasized the importance of local collaboration for effective policing during the inauguration of a new police headquarters in Jalingo, Taraba. He stated that successful policing relies on the cooperation of local residents, who should provide credible and timely information regarding criminal activities in their communities, alongside the efforts of the police.

The President-General of the Udo Peoples Assembly, Collins Onyewuchi, has appealed to government authorities for intervention over alleged brutality by security operatives against residents of Udo Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State. According to ThisDay Live, the community leader made the appeal in Port Harcourt, seeking protection for residents who have reportedly suffered at the hands of security personnel in the area.

The Cross River State police command has announced plans to launch Operation VELVET at the Dolphin Marine Base to curb piracy and other maritime crimes along Calabar's waterways. The move follows a resurgence of waterway abductions in the area, with three reported cases between April and August 2026. Joint security forces are expected to take part in the anti-piracy offensive, according to the Daily Post.

Police have deployed a protection squad to schools in Ogun State, Nigeria, as part of efforts to improve safety around educational institutions.
