Police in Kampala have arrested three individuals, identified as Derrick Tumusiime, Emmy Kitoko, and Fabrice Niyonzima, a Rwandan national, on suspicion of theft and sale of mobile phones. The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation, which resulted in the recovery of 143 suspected stolen phones.

According to the Command, the assailants were community vigilante operatives, not police personnel. Police in Iganga District, in collaboration with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Defence Intelligence Security, have arrested six individuals accused of impersonating President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his daughter, Natasha Karugire. The suspects allegedly operated a criminal syndicate that defrauded members of the public through social media and mobile money schemes.

Eight individuals, including seven men and one woman, have been arrested in Marsabit in connection with a SIM swap fraud involving Sh1.2 million. The suspects have been identified as Benrodgers Kyalo, Evans Mbweli, Patrick Vundi, Emily Mwende, Josephine Kasiva, Pius Mwenda, Alex Stima, and Jane Mueni.

Police in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory have arrested 10 suspects for allegedly vandalising street lights and armoured cables at various locations in Abuja. FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi announced the arrests while parading the suspects, saying they were apprehended in separate operations around Kubwa, Wuye and other areas, according to Daily Trust.
