The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) has announced the finalists for its 2026 AWIEF Awards, according to BellaNaija. Launched in 2017, the annual awards recognize and celebrate women entrepreneurs and business owners across Africa for their achievements and contributions to inclusive economic growth on the continent. Honourees span various industry sectors, with the initiative aiming to honour female leadership and innovation in African business.

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has received the Norman E. Borlaug Medallion from the World Food Prize Foundation, recognizing its two decades of efforts in transforming food systems across Africa. Since its establishment in 2006, AGRA has collaborated with various partners, including governments and NGOs, to enhance agricultural practices and food security on the continent.

Pauline Namwakira, a 23-year-old AWS Authorised Instructor and cloud educator, has been recognized as Kenya’s second recipient of the AWS Golden Jacket. This accolade highlights her contributions to technology education and mentorship in the region.

In Kenya, many unmarried women have adopted a new strategy to deter unwanted male attention by wearing rings that resemble engagement or wedding bands. These rings, typically symbols of being married or engaged, are used by some women to establish boundaries and reduce harassment from men who pursue them without consent. Nancy Wachira, a resident of Lamu Island, has been wearing such a ring since January to fend off unwanted advances.

Victoria Mwanziva, the District Commissioner of Lindi, has urged 60 students benefiting from vocational training under the 'Dumisha Amani' project, funded by international organizations including UNPDF and UNDP-Tanzania, to form skill groups.
