The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) conducted an enforcement operation in Kikuubo, Kampala, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of over 400 cartons of counterfeit and substandard toilet tissue. The operation also uncovered thousands of fake packaging materials that were likely used to rebrand unlabelled toilet tissue products.

The Ogun Customs has reported the seizure of contraband items valued at ₦4.63 billion, which included various goods such as foreign rice, cannabis, petroleum products, footwear, tyres, sugar, second-hand clothing, and pharmaceuticals. This operation has resulted in a revenue increase of 238%, according to Afeni.

The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation, which resulted in the recovery of 143 suspected stolen phones.

Kenya and Uganda are pushing to expand maize trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area, with Kenyan Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Kagwe saying Uganda is well positioned to supply part of Kenya's maize requirements. However, Kagwe urged Uganda to strengthen post-harvest handling, particularly maize drying, to address concerns over moisture content and aflatoxin contamination, stressing the need for safe, aflatoxin-free grain in cross-border trade.
