Kenya's Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies have continued to expand despite difficult economic conditions, according to the latest report from the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA). The sub-sector recorded growth in member deposits, the loan book and overall balance sheet size, with the total balance sheet for all regulated SACCOs rising compared to the previous period. The figures suggest the cooperative movement remains resilient, attracting more savings from members even as households and businesses face financial pressure across the economy.

Taita Taveta County has launched a cooperative fund aimed at enhancing rural access to credit. This initiative is designed to complement existing financing programs and facilitate improved access to credit for agricultural production and other income-generating activities.
