The Western Cape has completed its voluntary repatriation operation for foreign nationals, marking the end of a coordinated humanitarian effort. This initiative aimed to assist individuals wishing to return to their home countries.

Undocumented migrants are still being processed at the Beitbridge border post, with many arriving at the Musina repatriation centre, according to SABC News. The situation highlights ongoing challenges related to migration in the region.

The eThekwini municipality has urged individuals to refrain from dropping off foreign employees at a closed repatriation site in Durban. Approximately 700 men, women, and children have gathered outside the former drive-in repatriation centre, seeking government assistance to return to their home countries.

The South African government has stated that it is not providing funding for food for foreign nationals at the Musina Temporary Repatriation Centre, where individuals are awaiting repatriation. According to a Home Affairs official, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are currently stepping in to offer assistance to these migrants.

As police intensify their efforts, more foreigners, including Zimbabwean nationals, are seeking to leave the country. The situation has prompted a significant number of individuals to arrange for repatriation amid the ongoing crackdown.

According to SABC News, more than 8,000 Malawian nationals in KwaZulu-Natal have been processed by Home Affairs as they request repatriation. This increase in requests reflects a growing trend among foreign nationals in the region seeking to return to their home countries.
