Cross River State Governor Bassey Edet Otu has called for a stronger, more strategic partnership with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to improve flight efficiency and expand airport capacity. He made the appeal at the AFSNET 2026 event in Calabar, according to ThisDay Live, emphasising collaboration between the state and the federal aviation agency as key to enhancing air transport services in the region.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially handed over the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu to Aero Alliance Limited, following a public-private partnership agreement. The handover included the execution of certificates and relevant documentation, allowing Aero Alliance to finance, rehabilitate, expand, operate, and manage the airport.

ValueJet, in partnership with Gateway Air, the state-owned airline of Ogun State, has launched a daily flight service linking Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, with a stop in Lagos. According to PM News, the Abuja–Lagos–Gateway route is aimed at strengthening air connectivity for Ogun State and improving travel options between the state and the federal capital.
