Tanzania and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing tourism cooperation, which is seen as a significant move to bolster economic relations between the two nations. The agreement was formalized between Tanzania’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, coinciding with the launch of Air Tanzania Company Limited’s new initiatives.

Tanzania is seeking long-term investment from Japan to create jobs, develop skills, expand technology transfer and production, and improve the competitiveness of Tanzanian products in domestic and international markets. According to Daily News, the appeal was made by the Minister of State in the President's Office for Planning during the Tanzania Investment and Business Forum held in Tokyo, Japan.

During President Tharman Shanmugaratnam's state visit to Tanzania, the two countries signed five agreements covering taxation, trade facilitation, public service capacity building, and diplomatic cooperation. They also emphasized plans to enhance collaboration in investment, digital transformation, logistics, financial services, and industrial development, with bilateral trade reaching USD 74 million and Singaporean investments in Tanzania exceeding USD 535 million.

Tanzania has called on Japan to deepen economic and investment cooperation, urging a shift from long-standing diplomatic and development ties to concrete projects in production, manufacturing and trade. Speaking in Tokyo, Minister of State in the President's Office for Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo, said Tanzania wants Japanese companies to invest, manufacture and add value in the country, according to the Daily News report.

Tanzania aims to achieve its goal of becoming a middle-income, industrialized economy by focusing on reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. The country recognizes that without sufficient electricity to support industries, businesses, and household needs, economic transformation will be limited. Consequently, energy development has been prioritized as a strategic national objective, according to Daily News.
