Tanzania's National Examinations Council (NECTA) has announced that the 2026 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) will take place on September 9 and 10. According to NECTA Executive Secretary Prof. Said A. Mohamed, a total of 1,168,649 candidates from 20,019 schools will sit the exam, with girls making up 55 percent of candidates. He said 93 percent will take the exam in Kiswahili, while 7 percent will use English, and 4,867 candidates have special needs.

The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has announced the start of the second phase of first-degree admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year, giving applicants who missed or were unsuccessful in the first round another opportunity. Speaking to journalists in Dodoma, TCU Executive Secretary Prof. Charles Kihampa said the window runs from September 8 to September 21, 2026, and urged applicants to submit applications to their preferred universities and programmes, according to Michuzi Blog.

The Tanzanian government, through the Office of the Prime Minister – TAMISEMI, has acknowledged the challenges posed by conflicts between farmers and pastoralists in the Lukuledi River area of Ndanda, particularly during droughts. In response, Deputy Minister Dr. Jafar Seif stated that the government is collaborating with local authorities and security agencies to address these land use conflicts.

Pius Nyatori, the councillor for Mbezi Ward in Ubungo District, Dar es Salaam, pledged to address road, electricity and water challenges facing Godiana Primary School, according to Michuzi Blog. Tanzania's sixth-phase government has strengthened the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) by expanding academic capacity and improving infrastructure, according to Michuzi Blog. The government helped the institution secure nine professors and funded 78 staff members to pursue PhD degrees locally and abroad; 48 have completed their studies while 30 continue. The initiative, which includes an investment of 67.9 billion shillings, aims to boost TIA's ability to deliver education, conduct research, and produce knowledge.
