#2027 Election

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially launched the election preparation schedule for the 2027 General Election, revealing that public officials intending to run for various positions have less than 230 days to resign. The schedule, unveiled at the KICC in Nairobi, outlines key dates for political parties, independent candidates, public officials, and other stakeholders leading up to the election on August 10, 2027, indicating the start of preparations for what is expected to be a highly competitive election.

The United Alternative Government has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure transparency in the technology used for the 2027 General Election. During a press briefing, former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi emphasized the need for scrutiny from stakeholders, independent auditors, and the courts to maintain credibility and accountability in the electoral process, warning that lack of transparency could undermine public confidence.

President William Ruto criticized the United Opposition, labeling them as weak and unprepared for the upcoming 2027 General Election. Speaking at a coffee revival launch in Kianyaga, Kirinyaga County, on June 22, 2026, he expressed confidence in securing an early victory and challenged opposition leaders on their campaign capabilities. Ruto's remarks were met with enthusiasm from parts of the audience.
