Back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela have resulted in at least 32 fatalities and around 700 injuries, according to acting President Delcy Rodríguez. The US Geological Survey has estimated a 44% chance of more than 10,000 deaths and a 30% chance of over 100,000. A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, causing buildings to collapse in the capital, Caracas. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the epicenter was west of Moron, approximately 168 kilometers from Caracas, at a depth of 13 kilometers. Residents evacuated as buildings swayed, with many visibly shocked by the destruction, including collapsed walls that exposed furniture to the street.

Venezuela is facing significant challenges following two deadly earthquakes that have resulted in over 700 injuries. In the aftermath, Caracas airport has been closed, metro services have been suspended, and widespread power outages have been reported.
