A fire in the Bluegum section of Duduza, City of Ekurhuleni, resulted in the deaths of four family members, including an elderly woman and twin toddlers, on Wednesday. The incident has been described as tragic.

The City of Ekurhuleni's revised R71 billion budget has been passed after the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Freedom Front Plus (FF+) voted in favor, despite their previous opposition. They argued that failing to pass the budget could have led to the metro entering administration, which would have resulted in oversight by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

The City of Ekurhuleni has successfully adopted its 2026/27 budget after four attempts, as announced by the Mayor. This marks a significant step for the metro in its financial planning and governance.
