The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has requested an independent investigation into claims that approximately ₦8.8 trillion in public spending occurred outside Nigeria's official budget framework. The call for inquiry was made in a statement by HURIWA's National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, who characterized the allegations as serious.

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify allegations regarding the issuance of the Candidates’ Access Code for the 2027 general elections to a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). HURIWA cautioned INEC against actions that could jeopardize the electoral process and emphasized the importance of adhering to court procedures.
