Shamza Abedi, the former head of the Kabarnet Police Station in Baringo County, was surprised to be sought by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which typically investigates complaints against police officers. Initially fearing that one of her officers might be involved in misconduct, she was instead awarded by IPOA for her efforts in restoring security in the community, an unusual occurrence for the authority.
