The Imo State Police have refuted claims that herdsmen attacked and burned a student hostel in Nekede, Owerri, labeling the reports as "entirely false."

The Imo State Police Command has refuted claims circulating on social media that suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a student hostel at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri, resulting in multiple student fatalities. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Henry Okoye characterized the reports as "entirely false, misleading," and emphasized that no such incident occurred.

Chioma Uzodimma, the wife of the Imo State Governor, has advised men to care for their wives while they are financially stable, suggesting that such kindness will be reciprocated during challenging times. She emphasized that women generally wish for the best for their husbands, which can strengthen their support in difficult periods, according to Information Nigeria.

The Imo State Police Command has detained six officers who were seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting a young man in Ikeduru Local Government Area. Disciplinary procedures have commenced in response to the incident.
