Mohamed Salum, the Director General of the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC), emphasized the significant role of seafarers in the national economy during a workshop in Kigoma. He noted that approximately 80% of goods entering the country are transported by sea, highlighting the importance of seafarers in facilitating trade. This statement was made in the context of the upcoming World Maritime Day celebrations.

Rashid Chuachua, the District Commissioner of Kigoma, emphasized the importance of maritime safety for sailors and transport vessels on Lake Tanganyika, stating it is crucial for the lake to remain a key driver of economic production and development for the Kigoma region and the nation. His remarks were made during a rescue operation exercise involving security forces and the Tanzania Maritime Agency's search and rescue boat.

The Ministry of Construction, through the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) in Kigoma Region, has urged residents living near road infrastructure to actively participate in protecting and maintaining these roads to ensure their longevity and safety for users. This message was conveyed by the TANROADS Kigoma Manager, Engineer Elsony.

The Kigoma Ujiji Municipality in Kigoma region is reportedly facing a decline in moral standards, prompting Mayor Mussa Maulid to urge residents to actively combat any actions that indicate moral decay. He emphasized the importance of community participation in upholding societal values and cultural integrity.
