The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) is providing education to the public about the security features on Tanzanian banknotes to help them distinguish between genuine and counterfeit currency. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote proper money management to prevent deterioration or early wear of banknotes. Shadrack Mapunda, an official from the Currency Management Directorate at BoT, spoke at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair on July 4, 2026.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) conducted an enforcement operation in Kikuubo, Kampala, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of over 400 cartons of counterfeit and substandard toilet tissue. The operation also uncovered thousands of fake packaging materials that were likely used to rebrand unlabelled toilet tissue products.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed support for a proposed Regional Farm Service Centre Initiative aimed at tackling issues in Uganda's agricultural sector, particularly the problem of counterfeit agro inputs. This announcement was made during a meeting with a South African delegation led by Mr. Andile Ramaphosa at State Lodge, Nakasero, where a tripartite collaboration involving Namunkekera Farm Service Centre and the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) was discussed.
