The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a former Louisiana inmate, Damon Landor, cannot sue prison officials for cutting off his dreadlocks, which he claimed violated his Rastafari religious beliefs. While the justices condemned the actions taken against Landor, they determined that a federal law meant to protect inmates' religious rights does not allow for lawsuits seeking monetary damages, agreeing with previous lower court rulings.
