Barrister Christopher Chidera, a lawyer and public policy analyst, has stated that the arrest of Emeritus Professor Martin Aghaji serves as evidence that the persecution of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is politically motivated rather than a legal matter. Aghaji had previously issued an independent report regarding Kanu's health condition.
