At a press conference, he noted a pattern of intimidation against journalists, bloggers, and independent media in Kenya, which he linked to similar trends in other East African countries, particularly regarding coverage of corruption and abuse of power.

The National Press Club has condemned a gag order imposed on a Sunday Times journalist, which prohibits her from reporting on Sunshine Myende, sending her questions, or using her photograph. This action has raised concerns regarding press freedom and the ability of journalists to perform their duties without restrictions.
