Tension has escalated in Niger Republic as security measures were intensified around the Presidential Palace in Niamey following reports of unrest involving the armed forces. According to security sources, the Presidential Guard, supported by armoured vehicles, reinforced security around the Presidency during the night of July 3 and into July 4.
