The shortage of healthcare professionals in Africa has intensified the emphasis on medical education, as governments aim to develop a workforce that can address increasing healthcare demands. This issue was highlighted during the graduation of new doctors from St. George's University (SGU) in Nairobi, Kenya, on July 4, 2026.

According to Moneyweb, the tech and finance sectors are losing approximately 28,000 jobs monthly, with companies increasingly attributing these cuts to the impact of artificial intelligence. Bankers have also expressed concerns that AI technology will lead to further job eliminations in the industry.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's young population as a significant asset in expanding digital opportunities for businesses and workers. He assured Mastercard of the country's readiness in terms of a tech-savvy workforce and expressed support for enhancing digital skills among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Oracle's workforce decreased by 13%, equating to approximately 21,000 employees, in the past year, a reduction attributed in part to the company's increased adoption of artificial intelligence, according to TechCentral.
