The Ministry of Construction, through the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) in Kigoma Region, has urged residents living near road infrastructure to actively participate in protecting and maintaining these roads to ensure their longevity and safety for users. This message was conveyed by the TANROADS Kigoma Manager, Engineer Elsony.

In Rubirizi district, residents of Kikuba Village are celebrating a new water project funded by Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, the re-elected Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru. The project, valued at over UGX 6 million, aims to enhance access to safe water, thereby improving health and livelihoods in the area. Buturo is noted for his proactive approach in funding initiatives to benefit his constituents, rather than relying solely on government support.

Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has initiated the distribution of five trailer loads of fertiliser and 150 water-pumping machines to support his constituents in Kaduna South Senatorial District. The rehabilitation and expansion of Kigoma Airport in western Tanzania is 60 percent complete, with the government optimistic about its potential to enhance economic growth, trade, and investment in the region. The Ministry of Works, via the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), reported that the project is progressing steadily and is set to open in July.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has launched the Affordable Boda Boda Programme, which allows riders to acquire motorbikes with initial deposits starting at KSh 10,000. The program is set to begin in September, aiming to support boda boda riders in accessing affordable transportation options.

According to a report by the Budget Controller, Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o, nine counties in Kenya have spent less than 20% of their development budgets in the first nine months of the 2025/2026 financial year, focusing instead on salaries and other expenditures. Kajiado County recorded the lowest at 9% of its development budget, followed by Lamu at 11%. Other counties with low development spending include Siaya, Uasin Gishu, Baringo, Tana River, Nakuru, Migori, and Mombasa.
