Kenya's government plans to restore operations at two airstrips in the South Rift region that have been largely inactive for nearly three decades, according to Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir. Chirchir said rehabilitation works at Itembe Airstrip in Bomet and Kerenga Airstrip in Kericho were progressing, as the government seeks to return the facilities to service.

The Kenyan government has announced plans to accelerate construction of the Rironi-Mau Summit Road, with completion and opening targeted for June 2027, ahead of the next General Election. According to Business Today, Roads Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir said work on the project would gather pace in the coming weeks, beginning with sections of the road from Rironi. The highway is a major transport corridor in the country.
