President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has endorsed Idah Nabayiga, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, for the upcoming Woman Member of Parliament by-election in Kalangala District. During a campaign rally, he presented a development plan for the Ssese Islands, which includes improvements in transport, electricity, healthcare, education, and wealth creation.

Idah Nabayiga, the candidate from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has been declared the winner of the Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament by-election. The results were announced by Kalangala District Returning Officer Ronald Agaba at the district council hall shortly after the election held on Wednesday, where Nabayiga competed against four other candidates.

Residents of the Ssese Islands in Kalangala District are voting today to elect a new Woman Member of Parliament for the 12th Parliament, following the death of former MP Helen Nakimuli in April. Five candidates are contesting in the by-election, including Aidah Nabayiga from the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

State Minister for Fisheries Robert Migadde Ndugwa has clarified that the government has not halted fishing activities in Uganda's waters, stating that fishermen can continue their operations as long as they use approved fishing gear and adhere to fisheries regulations. He made these comments while campaigning for NRM flag bearer Nabayiga Idah at Lwanabatya Landing Site in Kyamuswa County, addressing local residents and the fishing community.

During the Women’s Day celebrations in Jinja, Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, emphasized the need for collective action to combat adolescent pregnancy, gender-based violence (GBV), and corruption in the Busoga region. The event, themed "Scaling up Investment to Accelerate Access to Justice for all Women and Girls in Uganda," highlighted the importance of women's empowerment and acknowledged President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's support for these initiatives.

The NRM Parliamentary Caucus has elected Fred Rwakaizi, who received 127 votes, and Stella Kiryowa, a long-time contender with 99 votes, to run for the two vacant EALA seats, according to Uganda Update News.
