The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus met at the Office of the President in Kampala to elect a new Executive Committee and select candidates for Uganda's two vacant seats in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). The meeting began at 11:00 AM and included various NRM Members.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has appointed three women Members of Parliament to represent backbenchers on the Parliamentary Commission, as part of the process to establish the leadership and administrative framework of the 12th Parliament. This decision was made by the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC), which is led by President Yoweri Museveni.

Residents of the Ssese Islands in Kalangala District are voting today to elect a new Woman Member of Parliament for the 12th Parliament, following the death of former MP Helen Nakimuli in April. Five candidates are contesting in the by-election, including Aidah Nabayiga from the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Idah Nabayiga, the candidate from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has been declared the winner of the Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament by-election. The results were announced by Kalangala District Returning Officer Ronald Agaba at the district council hall shortly after the election held on Wednesday, where Nabayiga competed against four other candidates.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has campaigned for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party candidate Idah Nabayiga in the lead-up to the by-election scheduled for June 24, 2026. During his campaign, Museveni promised to address the transport and fishing issues affecting the Kalangala area.

At 25, Hon. Lenia Charity Kevin has become the youngest member of the National Resistance Movement’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), which is responsible for making significant strategic decisions for the party. Her appointment was confirmed during a committee meeting at State House in Entebbe, where she was one of four nominees selected by Party Chairman President Yoweri Museveni.
