The secretary-general of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has stated that recent anti-migrant violence poses a threat to Africa's integration efforts. This violence contradicts the objectives of the continental trade pact, which aims to enhance economic cooperation and integration among African nations, according to TimesLIVE.

In 2025, Nigeria experienced a 21% increase in intra-African trade, reaching a total of $9.02 billion. This growth is attributed to the ongoing implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which has facilitated new export opportunities and enhanced regional commercial integration by allowing businesses to benefit from preferential market access and reduced trade barriers, according to the latest African Trade Report.

Fidelity Bank Plc has reiterated its dedication to Nigeria's economic diversification by focusing on capacity building and export development. The bank hosted the 19th edition of its Export event to empower exporters and help them take advantage of opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has cautioned that Nigeria may not fully benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) despite the government's approval of a $1 billion credit facility to support exporters. The association emphasized that without necessary reforms, the potential advantages of the AfCFTA may not be realized, according to Vanguard Business.
