The Nigerian Federal Government has requested an investigation into the death of Usama Murtala, a Nigerian citizen who died while in detention in Côte d’Ivoire. The demand for an inquiry and compensation for Murtala's family was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, during a meeting with the Ivorian Ambassador to Nigeria, Kalilou Traore.

Starlink, the satellite internet service provided by SpaceX, is scheduled to commence commercial operations in Côte d’Ivoire in July 2026, according to CIO Africa.
