The Ebonyi state government has established a panel to monitor and penalize schools that are violating the ban on graduation ceremonies. This decision comes after reports indicated that numerous school administrators continued to hold these events despite receiving multiple warnings.

In a significant political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, approximately 4,000 members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), including Deputy Chairman Mr. Okechukwu Idenyi and Secretary Bar. Solomon Adum, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State. The formal reception of the defectors took place on Saturday, marking a notable change in the political landscape of the region.

The inaugural South East amateur boxing championship commenced in Umuahia, Abia State, where Chidiebere Chukwuemeka from Abia defeated Chigbo Aguiyi of Ebonyi State. In another match, Israel Ogbodo from Enugu State triumphed over Ayu Jonah from Imo State. The event is being hosted at the Umuahia township stadium.
