The GP Health Department reported that the rollout of Lenacapavir, an HIV prevention drug, exceeded its targets in the first month of implementation. This development indicates a positive response to the drug's introduction in the region.

Health educators and HIV/AIDS focal persons in the Karamoja sub-region are receiving training on the implementation of Lenacapavir, a new injectable drug for HIV prevention introduced by the Ministry of Health. This training, organized by the Uganda AIDS Commission in Moroto District, aims to equip health communication officers and focal persons with the necessary skills for the rollout of this six-month HIV prevention jab.

The Ministry of Health announced that demand for Lenacapavir, a new HIV prevention injection launched in April, is currently exceeding the available supply, particularly among men seeking the twice-yearly treatment. Dr. Herbert Kadama, who coordinates Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) at the Ministry, spoke at a meeting with HIV advocates, researchers, and policymakers about the situation.

The Ministry of Health reported that the demand for Lenacapavir, an HIV prevention injection introduced in Uganda in April, is surpassing the available supplies.
